Each week, we hold a company-wide meeting to discuss recruiting strategies for open positions. The meeting has multiple purposes, and usually uncovers common mistakes that all recruiters, not just those at LaSalle Network, fall prey to.
This week, it was tunnel vision.
During the initial screening process, too many recruiters focus solely on the position they are recruiting for, and don’t recognize candidates that might be beneficial for future orders.
If a candidate isn’t right for the role, but they are 75 percent good in other aspects, bring them in for an interview!
Knowledgeable candidates lend insight into the market, giving a recruiter research data to refer to when speaking with clients. These candidates are also ideal for networking, direct sourcing and of course future open positions!
Don’t be so blinded by the urgency of an open position that a great candidate is overlooked.
